This blog is for the new CEO. The accidental CEO who is now at a growing company and worried about how to be the best in their new role. If that’s you, stick around. I want to share my story with you (it’s still going…), and give you my best advice I’ve learned from my mistakes, and from the advice and guidance of mentors, family, and friends.
Don’t worry – you’ve got this!
I’ve spent the last seven years growing into a CEO role that continues to challenge me every day. Building a company from one or two people into a team of over twenty has been the experience of a lifetime. I can’t think of anything that could give me more personal and professional gratification. Most of what I have learned was on the job training. I never had an advisory board or anyone that understood how lonely the role could be.
In my previous life, I was a software engineer (I still believe that I am). The company I founded develops TV applications for media companies. Since that time, the company has grown to over 25 people and even though that doesn’t sound like a lot, I can assure you, it is. I’ve experienced incredible highs and horrific lows, and I want to share my stories with you. If you are thinking about starting a business, or are already running one, I hope that my stories will inspire you and help you when you need it most.
I made the decision to start a blog once I committed to becoming a writer. I was always at the top of my class in reading and writing, but I never liked reading, and I have always hated writing.
I recently had a change of heart. I decided that I had too good information to share and wanted to make sure I passed it along to someone. Heck, maybe I’m writing this for my kids.
At the beginning of 2017, I decided that I was going to give it a shot. I did tons of research, reading dozens of books and feeling inspired. So here I am, starting my blog. I’m taking the advice of dozens of my virtual mentors and “shutting up and writing.”
I will share my years of experimentation with you.
My hope is that you find information that helps you make a better decision, or presents with you with an alternative view of a problem. I’d like to be your coach. If something I writes helps you solve a problem or overcome fear, then this blog is a success, and everything else is gravy.
So this blog is my journey, from Software Engineer to CEO, to Author. Yes, Author. I decided to dive in and write my first book! I’m scared, excited, and enthusiastic about the future, but I feel confident that I’m on the right course.
Thank you for stopping by – please leave me some feedback to help me make this blog better.
